Skincare Routine for Oily & Acne-Prone Skin in Bangladesh: A Simple Morning + Night Guide
A simple morning and night routine for oily, acne-prone skin in Bangladesh’s heat and humidity: what each step does, which products to use, and the mistakes to avoid.

If your face looks shiny by 11am, your pores feel clogged after a day in Dhaka traffic, and a new pimple seems to appear every week, you are not alone. Oily, acne-prone skin is very common, and Bangladesh's heat, humidity and dust can make it harder to manage.
The good news: you don't need ten products. A simple routine, the right ingredients and a few weeks of patience can make a real difference. This guide gives you a clear morning and night routine, explains what each step does, and shows which products fit each step.
- Morning: gentle cleanser → niacinamide serum → light, oil-free moisturizer → sunscreen.
- Night: gentle cleanser → BHA exfoliant (2–3 nights a week) → niacinamide serum → moisturizer.
- For a sudden pimple: a pimple patch instead of squeezing it.
Why oily skin breaks out more in Bangladesh
Your skin makes an oil called sebum to protect itself. In hot, humid weather, oil and sweat mix with dust and pollution on the skin's surface. When dead skin cells also build up, pores can get blocked, and blocked pores are where blackheads and pimples start.
Many people try to fix this by washing their face five times a day with harsh face wash, or by skipping moisturizer completely. Both usually backfire. Stripping the skin can leave it tight and irritated, and it often looks just as oily a few hours later. The goal is not to remove all oil. It is to keep pores clear, keep the skin barrier healthy and control shine.
Your morning routine (4 steps, about 3 minutes)
Step 1: A gentle, low-pH cleanser
Wash with lukewarm water and a gentle gel cleanser. It should leave your face clean but not squeaky or tight. A low-pH cleanser is kinder to the skin barrier than strong foaming soaps.

A gentle low-pH gel cleanser with tea tree oil. A popular choice for oily and acne-prone skin. Also comes in a bigger 150 ml bottle.
Step 2: Niacinamide serum
Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is a well-studied ingredient that suits oily skin. It can help balance the look of oily skin, make pores look less visible and calm the look of redness. Use 2–3 drops on your whole face after cleansing.

10% niacinamide with 1% zinc. Helps control shine and the look of blemishes and pores. Use morning and night.
Step 3: A light, oil-free moisturizer
Yes, oily skin needs moisturizer too. When skin is dehydrated it can feel tight, get irritated more easily and may look even shinier. Choose a lightweight, oil-free lotion that sinks in quickly and doesn't feel heavy in humid weather.

Lightweight, oil-free hydration with birch sap. Hydrates without a greasy feel.
Step 4: Sunscreen, every single day
This is the step most people skip, and it matters a lot. The sun in Bangladesh is strong all year, even on cloudy monsoon days. UV exposure can make the dark marks left behind by pimples last much longer. Use about two finger-lengths for your face and neck as the last step every morning, and reapply if you are outside for a long time.

SPF50+ PA+++ with soothing aloe. Light texture for daily use.
Your night routine
Step 1: Cleanse properly
At night you need to remove sunscreen, sweat and the day's dust. If you wear makeup or a lot of sunscreen, start with a micellar water on a cotton pad, then follow with your gel cleanser. This is called double cleansing.

Low-pH micellar water with niacinamide. Removes sunscreen and light makeup before your cleanser.
Step 2: BHA exfoliant, 2–3 nights a week
BHA (salicylic acid and its gentler relatives) is oil-soluble, so it can work inside the pore to help clear the oil and dead skin that lead to blackheads and breakouts. Apply a small amount with a cotton pad or your palms after cleansing. Start with 2–3 nights a week, not every night.

Step 3: Niacinamide again
You can use niacinamide at night too. On BHA nights, apply it after the BHA has dried for a minute or two.
Step 4: Moisturize
Finish with your oil-free lotion. If your skin feels dry or irritated from exfoliating, a soothing snail mucin product is a nice addition on those nights.

Snail mucin essence for hydration and soothing. The 30 ml size is a good way to try it.
What to do with a sudden pimple
Don't squeeze it. Squeezing a pimple can push its contents deeper, make it more inflamed and raise the chance of a dark mark or scar. Instead, clean the area and put a hydrocolloid pimple patch on it, ideally overnight. It protects the spot from your fingers and absorbs fluid from pimples that have come to a head.

Hydrocolloid patches for whiteheads and surface pimples. Wear overnight or under a mask.

5 common mistakes that make oily skin worse
- Over-washing. Twice a day is enough. After the gym or a long sweaty commute, rinse with water or do a quick extra cleanse.
- Skipping moisturizer. Light hydration helps keep the skin barrier calm and comfortable.
- Using too many actives at once. Start new products one at a time, about a week apart, so you know what works and what irritates.
- Skipping sunscreen. Dark marks from old pimples fade much more slowly without daily SPF.
- Giving up too early. Most routines need 4–8 weeks of daily use before you can judge the results.
How long until you see results?
Everyone's skin is different, but many people notice less shine within a few weeks. Clogged pores and breakouts usually take longer, often 6–8 weeks or more, because skin renews itself slowly. Take a photo in the same light every two weeks. It is much easier to see progress that way.
When to see a dermatologist
Skincare products can help with mild to moderate breakouts, but they are not a medical treatment. Please see a dermatologist if you have painful, deep or cystic acne, if acne is leaving scars, or if nothing improves after 2–3 months of a consistent routine.
Frequently asked questions
Does oily skin really need moisturizer?
Yes. Oily skin can still be dehydrated. A light, oil-free moisturizer keeps the skin barrier healthy and comfortable without adding grease.
Can I use niacinamide and BHA together?
Yes. Most people can use both in the same routine. Apply the BHA first, let it dry for a minute or two, then apply niacinamide. If your skin gets irritated, use them on different nights.
Do I need sunscreen when it's cloudy or I'm indoors?
On cloudy days, yes. Clouds block only part of the UV light, so some still reaches your skin, and UVA rays can pass through window glass. If you sit near a window or go out even for a short time, wear it too. Making it a daily habit is the easiest way.
Should I pop my pimples?
No. Squeezing can make a pimple more inflamed and leave dark marks or scars. Use a pimple patch on spots that have come to a head and let them heal.
